Our purple double tredle Ashford Elizabeth is almost done! She debuts on Wednesday. Be sure to come by and welcome her home! Watch for pictures on Wednesday.
Sandi is still working on the shop Elizabeth double treadle wheel. She got one step closer today when she completed the lettering on the beautiful purple wheel itself. Hopefully, the wheel will have its shop debut this weekend! Thanks go to Kaye who found a wonderful Arts and Crafts era font for Sandi to letter from. The Lyfe so short, the Crafte so long to learn!
We love Ashford's Elizabeth spinning wheel! It's truly a storybook dream come true and spins beautifully with great engineering, We thought we would try out the double treadle version in the unfinished wheel. The weather nicely cooperated with a dry day today for Sandi to start the process is staining the wood. The beauty of staining the wheel yourself rather than purchasing the finished version is that you can make the wheel whatever colour you like! We chose purple (of course!). The unfinished wheel also costs a bit less, so for you handy types this is a great way to acquire one of these beautiful wheels.
The staining is finished. Now we have to wait for it to dry and be sanded prior to applying a sealing clear coat. We can't wait to show it off!
This the last installment in the Lucy Sock Project. Sandi has been working on this intermittently for a bit of time now. The fiber is a Blue Moon Fiber Arts Sheep to Shoe kit in the Lucy colourway. The project entails spinning the singles for a 4ply fine fingering weight yarn using 4 different spinning wheels. The previous 3 singles were spun on a Schacht Ladybug, Ashford Joy and Traditional, and an Ashford Elizabeth. This last single is being spun on a Louet Julia. Stay tuned for the plying!
Here is Sandi knitting "Argyle Vest" in Rowan Felted Tweed from Color Style by Ann Budd and Pam Allen - Interweave Press while playing scrabble. The vest makes up quickly with a ribbed back for fit. The front will have irregular argyle diamonds in five additional colors.
She won the scrabble game too!
