FOs at Purlescence

We're always excited to help our friends take their knitting to the next level. Our friend Kathryn took the Socks Basics class on Saturday and completed her first sock ever! We are so very proud of her and look forward to watching her progress.

Nathania also has a finished object, Ariann. She cast off the collar yesterday afternoon during Tea & Sympathy.

Pattern: Ariann from Chic Knits (we're thinking about carrying her patterns. Feedback welcome).
Yarn: Malabrigo Merino Worsted in Cognac, 6 hanks
Needles: Addi Turbos, 5mm

Good news, we expect our new shipment from Malabrigo any day now, restocking sold out colors and adding a few new ones. We also heard from Blue Moon. Replenishment should be arriving in the next two weeks. Watch this space (we'll also announce via the email mailing list and Yahoo group) to find out when the new Socks That Rock and other goodies will be available.

Projects, Projects , Everywhere!

We're always amazed and inspired by the beautiful things our customers are knitting. Tea and Sympathy on Sundays always turns into a delightful show and tell of projects and techniques. This week our friend Sandy W. was working on a Fair Isle cardigan from Philospher's Wool.  She basted a sewing guide in contrasting yarn, then sewed it with her sewing machine before cutting out the scoop neck.

Next she cut the center steek, the extra stitches cast on specifically for cutting the center front of the cardigan, thus making it possible to knit the entire sweater in the round. There were a few gasps of alarm when the scissors came out, but it was lots of fun to see the cardigan form before our very eyes. Excellent work, Sandy! We can't wait to see it finished.

Sandy Y. was working on her Diversity Scarf. She's done a beautiful job and knit it up very quickly. In fact, she was casting it off the last we checked and was looking forward to showing it to the knitting class she teaches at a local library.

We're also very proud of Dorothy who finished her very first sock on Monday, Kitchener Stitch and all! It's been delightful to watch her progress with this project. She giggled the entire time she turned the heel - we think it's pretty cool too - and made it through the entire sock with grace. She immediately cast on the second sock and has plans for the next pair already. We're pretty sure there're lots more socks in her future.
