Easy Non-wool Socks
Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Handknit socks are a pleasure to make and wear if wool is in your
fiber vocabulary. But what if you or the future sockwearer is allergic
or sensitive to wool, or simply chooses not to wear it? Then what?
Give up on handknit and go to T*rget? Heavens, no! Handknit socks are
a pleasure; you need not deny yourself.
In this class, you'll learn Amy's super-easy toe-up sock recipe which
she designed specifically to work with the characteristics of non-wool
sock yarns. It features an easy gusset, and a heel flap built with
Amy's tweaked Japanese short-row technique, all 100% math free. Knit
one, and you just might want this to be your sock recipe for life. The
pattern gives you lots of room to improvise, should you want to add
texture, colorwork or lace to the foot and/or leg.
We'll also investigate a variety of non-wool sock yarns. Be prepared
to share the sock yarn you bring with your classmates so we everyone
gets a little hands-on time with a variety of different fibers.
