Two sox from a flying saucer!

Sandi cast on two socks on two circular needles today using our new Schoppel Wolle Fliegende Untertasse sock yarn. This yarn is two strands dyed together and wound onto a flying saucer! It's designed to mount onto a paper towel or toilet paper holder, but out friend CJ suggested that the disk might fit nicely into a Fiber Sphere. It's perfect! Watch for more classes featuring two socks on two circulars or magic loop later in the Fall. What a great way to knock out those holiday gifts!

Sock Hop 2010 featuring Sandi Rosner

The first ever sock hop at Purlescence featured Sandi Rosner and Think Outside the Sox published by XRX Books.    Sandi told stories about the "Think Outside the Sox" competition and how the book came to be published.  Everyone had a chance to ask her questions.

Then the dancing began!  We listened to hits from the fifties and everyone had a chance to win some door prizes.  We had some really special ones. Erica from Kollage Yarns brought some fabulous Kollage Square needles in sizes for sock making, and Benjamin from XRX sent 4 subscriptions to XRX Knitter's Magazine.

Kaye picks the winning ticket for the Grand Prize - the Louet Julia spinning wheel.  The winner is Melissa who declined the prize, so it went to the runner up - Penny!  Congratuations Penny!
